New Feature: Automatically Scored Speaking Assignment
Students told me that they want help with their pronunciation, so I developed an automatically scored speaking assignment. Students read the prompt and compose their answer to a question, finish a sentence, or translate a phrase. Then, the student records his or her response with a microphone and submits it for pronunciation analysis. In one or two minutes, the system gives feedback on the length of their answer, their use of target structures, their grammar, and their pronunciation. The system sends their score to the gradebook automatically, and they can repeat the assignment to get a higher score.
How good is it? It’s fast. It’s tireless. And it provides a focus-on-form activity that counts, with detailed actionable feedback.
Automated speaking assignments help students get more form-focused speaking practice that counts.
